Snehana- Snehana means Oleation- Internal and EXTERNAL

For External snehana – Abhyanga – oil massage is prescribed. In Abhyanga body is massaged with different Ayurvedic oils which helps the toxins to move towards the gastro –intestinal tract. Abhyanga - massage removes stress and nourishes the nervous system. It makes the body tissues – both superficial and deep soft and supple, Snehana is given for 3 to 7 days daily. For internal Snehana some ayurvedic - Medicated Ghee (Ghritam) is given to take orally.

Swedana –swedana means sweating.

It is given daily immediately following the snehana-Abhyanga. In this steam added with herbal decoction given to the body to loosen the toxins from the individual. It liquefies the toxins and increases the movement of toxins in to the Gastro – Intestinal Tract.

Vaman – Emesis therapy

It is indicated in kaphavridhi means in excess of kapha. Vamana - the Ayurvedic treatment is therapeutic vomiting, to eliminate the Kapha causing the excess Mucus.It is done for bronchitis, cold-cough, asthma etc.

Virechana- Purgation Therapy

It is indicated in excess of Pitta in body. Ayurveda suggest therapeutic purgation for skin problems like Rashes, Inflamation, Biliary Vomiting, acne-pimples and Jaundice etc.

Nasyam-Nasal Administration

In this therapy head –face and chest is massaged with specific herbal oil and made to perspire. Then specific Ayurvedic oils – powder are administered in nostrils. It is very effective for Sinusitis, Migraine, Headaches, Allergic condition and Rhinitis etc.

Anuvasan Vasti - Medicated Oil Enemas

It is indicated in Vata disorders like backache, sciatica and other joint pains, Arthritis, Rheumatism, Gout, Muscle Spasm, Sexual problems, Neurological problems Headache Etc. Vata`s predominant site is the colon. In this therapy medicated oil is introduced into the Rectum.

Asthapana Vasti- Niruha Vasti – Enema of Decoction

It is also done for vata disorders. In this herbal decoctions are introduced in the rectum. It relieves Constipation, Distention, Backache, Rheumatism and other joint pains etc.

Abhyanga (Ayurvedic body massage)

In this therapy whole body is massaged by specific herbal oil selected according to the body type. It is indicated as Purvakarma – Pre Treatment Procedure- for Panchkarma procedure. It tones the body, improves circulation, restore energy and provides relaxation.

Sirodhra

In this therapy herbal oil or medicated buttered Milk are poured in a thin stream on the forehead. It is very good for relaxation, insomnia, migraine -Headaches, Depression & other stress related problems.

Pizhichil

In this therapy about up 4 to 5 liters of herbal oils, selected according to the body constitution is poured on the whole body and light massage is administered. It tones up the skin, nourishes the muscle and nervous tissues and expels metabolic waste through skin. It also retards the ageing process, arrests degeneration of body cells and relieves rheumatic and joint pains. It detoxifies, purifies and rejuvenates the body.

Patra Swedan- Pinda Swedan

This therapy uses Cotton Pouches filled with different herbs soaked in oil or decoction to massage the body. It enhances physical consistency and reinforces nerves. It also relives sports injury and joint pains. It is very useful in neurological problems also.

Udwarthanam

In this therapy body is massaged with herbal powders (Churnam).

This therapy helps to reduce body’s extra fat content –cellulied and improves blood circulation. Good for skin complexion also.

Vashpaswedanam(herbal-medicated steam bath)

In this therapy special herbs are boiled with water and resulting steam is given in a special cabinet. It opens the Pores, Purifies the body and eliminates various toxins. It also helps in reducing body’s extra fat.
