DESCRIPTION
The Mahkota Medical Centre (MMC) is a private health care provider strategically located within the major business district and tourist area of Malacca. The hospital's holding company is 
Health Management International Ltd (HMI), a Singapore-based healthcare group listed on the Singapore Exchange (SESDAQ) in 1999. It overlooks the Straits of Malacca and is also within easy reach of many towns in the surrounding states.
The inception of MMC came in September 1994 with the principal objective of providing accessible, affordable and acceptable tertiary health care for the people.
Mahkota Medical Centre (MMC) has established itself as a tertiary hospital of repute in Malaysia and in the region, providing quality medical services at affordable rates. Managed and owned by Health Management International Ltd (HMI), the hospital plays a vital part to the healthcare group's operations. HMI was listed no the Singapore Exchange (SESDAQ) in 1999.
The hospital is currently staffed with 50 full time medical specialists of various disciplines. MMC's management comprises of personnel with varying qualifications. There is a good mixture of personnel who has been with the company since its inception and those who have recently joined from other established organisations.
The hospital currently manages 235 beds in five wards (including one maternity ward), the ICU and CCU. The hospital also operates other medical facilities including nine major Operating Rooms (ORs) and one Minor ORs, Radiology Services, Laboratory, Pharmacy, Day Procedure Unit, Health Screening Services, Radiotherapy and Chemotherapy Services, IVF Services, Haemodialysis Services, Physiotherapy Services and Dental Services.
Besides the core services, the hospital also provides other services including the cafeteria and retail facilities on the ground floor. In addition, MMC also trains nurses for both private and public hospitals in Malaysia.
