DR. UTHAI RUTNIN:

Prior to founding Rutnin Eye Hospital Dr. Uthai Rutnin reproduced the first detailed drawings of the retina during his retinal fellowship at Harvard University. These historical drawings have since become classics in textbooks of Ophthalmology.
When he returned from the United States in 1964, Dr. Uthai Rutnin was Thailand's first retinal specialist. He was one of the key figures in modernizing and implementing western standards for Thai Ophthalmic practice. As part of his civil service, he founded and headed the Ophthalmology Department of Ramathibodi Hospital, one of Thailand's largest teaching hospitals. In a lifetime dedicated to clinical and academic Ophthalmology he made immense contributions to the growth and development of Ophthalmology in Thailand.
