The Beach & Lake is a privately owned Ayurvedic Resort, 8 kilometres south of Trivandrum International Airport. Offering Therapeutic and Rejuvenating Ayurvedic programmes, the resort is nestled between the Arabian Sea and the Karamana river, situated on an island.

On one side are the backwaters; bordered by a forest of coconut palms, a natural habitat for 31 odd species of migratory birds. On the other side, a secluded expanse of beach stretches 4 kms north to the lively beach of Kovalam.

Pizhichil: (14 days)

Lukewarm herbal oils are dripped all over the body by 2-3 trained technicians in a rhythmic way for about 60-90 minutes.
Indications:- Hemiplegia, paralysis, rheumatic,complaints, joint stiffness, nervous disorders etc.

GNAVARAKIZHI: (14 days)

It is a process by which the whole body or any specific part is made to perspire by the application of certain medicated rice pudding externally in the form of boluses tied up in a muslin bag.
Duration 60-90 minutes.

DHARA: (14 days)

Some herbal oils, medicated milk, medicated buttermilk etc., are poured on the forehead in a special way about 45 minutes.
Indications:-Insomnia, mental tension, vatha predominated diseases.

VASTHI: (14 days)

(BHRAHMANA VASTHI 147 Euro, MATHRA VASTHI, SNEHA VASTHI, KASHAYA VASTHI)

Certain herbal oils, herbal extracts etc. are applied through the rectum.
Indications:-Arthritis, paralysis, gastric complaints, rheumatism etc.

SIROVASTHI: (One time)

Special herbal oils, are poured in a cap fitted on the head for 15-60 minutes.
Indications:- Facial paralysis, headaches, vatha originated diseases etc.

UDVARTHANAM: (10 days)

This is a typical massage with herbal power about 30 minutes.Indications:- Paralysis, obesity, rheumatic ailments etc.

SNEHAPANAM: (8 days)

Medicated ghee is given internally in a proportionally increasing quantity for a period of 8 days with special diet. (Preparatory process for doing panchakarma).
Indications:- Arthritis, Osteoarthritis, skin diseases etc.

NASYAM: (7 days )

This is one of the important treatments in Panchakarma in which herbal juices, medicated oils etc, are applied through nose.
Indications:- Headaches, mental disorders, skin diseases etc.

ABHYANGAM: (14 days)

In this treatment a gentle oil massage is given according to the disease for 45 minutes.
Indications:- Obesity, lack or blood circulation etc.

KIZHI: (14 days)

Leaves, herbs, herbal powders, fleshes of animals etc. are applied to the whole body in boluses with hot medicated oils.
Duration is 20-45 minutes.
Indications:- Arthritis, spondylosis, sports injuries, muscular- atrophy etc.

LEPAM:

Special medicated herbs are made into a paste and applied on the body or part of the body for 20-90 minutes.
Indications:- Skin diseases, muscular injury, atrophy, brain diseases, insomnia, varicosity etc.

Dr V. Franklin

Dr V. Franklin is one of the best known Ayurvedic doctors in Kerala and is a specialist in Panchakarma treatment. He comes from a traditional Ayurvedic background and a family that can trace their tradition back 400 years.

Formerly the District Medical Officer for the Kerala Government, Dr V.Franklin has travelled the world giving seminars and consultations.

He runs the Panchakarma and Research Institute in Chowara which he established in 1997, its aim to provide a first class service to both domestic and overseas tourists.

In 1999 he was named: ‘Tourism Man of the Year’ for so successfully combining tourism with Ayurveda. All treatments at the Beach & Lake Ayurvedic Resort are carried out under his direct guidance and supervision.
