Doctor Verification Policy
Surgeons and doctors listed on SurgeryPlanet undergo credential verification. This policy describes what we verify, how we verify it, and what we do not verify.
What We Verify
- Medical license: Active, unrestricted license with the national medical council of the country where they practice
- Board certification: Certification in claimed specialties from the recognized national specialty board
- Disciplinary history: Absence of active disciplinary actions, license suspensions, or revocations
- Basic credentials: Medical school, residency, and fellowship training as claimed
How We Verify
- Direct verification with national medical council online registries and databases
- Review of board certification with relevant specialty boards
- Periodic re-verification — surgeons must maintain active, unrestricted licensure to remain listed
What We Do NOT Verify
- Outcomes data: We do not independently verify surgeon-reported complication rates, success rates, or mortality rates
- Procedure volumes: We do not independently verify claimed procedure counts
- Patient satisfaction: We do not independently verify patient reviews or testimonials
- Continuing education: We do not track ongoing continuing medical education
Limitations
Our verification is a starting point — it is not a guarantee of surgical skill, outcomes, or quality of care. We strongly recommend that patients independently verify surgeon credentials, ask about procedure-specific experience and complication rates during video consultations, and speak with previous patients when possible.
