Medical Review Process

SurgeryPlanet's medical review process helps ensure that content containing clinical, procedural, or treatment information is accurate, balanced, and includes appropriate safety context.

1. What Gets Reviewed

Medical review is required for content that includes: descriptions of surgical or medical procedures, recovery timelines and expectations, risks and complications of treatments, clinical recommendations or guidance, and any content that could influence a patient's medical decisions. General travel and logistics content may not require formal medical review.

2. Reviewer Qualifications

Medical content is reviewed by qualified healthcare professionals with: an active medical license in good standing, board certification in a relevant specialty, and clinical experience relevant to the content being reviewed. Reviewers are independent — they are not employees of SurgeryPlanet.

3. Review Criteria

Reviewers evaluate content for: medical accuracy and alignment with current clinical guidelines, completeness (are important risks or alternatives missing?), appropriate safety warnings and disclaimers, and clarity for a general audience. Reviewers do not endorse specific providers or guarantee outcomes.

4. Limitations

Medical review does not: guarantee error-free content, replace individualized medical advice, establish that content is appropriate for your specific situation, or create a doctor-patient relationship. Always consult your own healthcare provider.
