Hospital Verification Policy

Hospitals listed on SurgeryPlanet undergo a verification process. This policy describes what we verify, how we verify it, and the limitations of our verification.

What We Verify

  • Accreditation status: JCI, ISO, or equivalent national accreditation. We independently check accreditation with the issuing body's online directory
  • Licensure: Valid operating license from the relevant national or regional health authority
  • Services claimed: That the hospital offers the specialties and procedures it claims to offer
  • International patient services: Existence of a dedicated international patient department or coordinator
  • Basic facility information: Location, contact details, languages spoken

How We Verify

  • Direct verification with accreditation body online directories (JCI, NABH, etc.)
  • Review of hospital-submitted documentation (licenses, certifications)
  • Periodic re-verification — hospitals must maintain current accreditation to remain listed

What We Do NOT Verify

  • Clinical outcomes data: We do not independently verify hospital-reported success rates, complication rates, or mortality rates
  • Patient satisfaction: We do not independently verify patient reviews or satisfaction claims
  • All individual surgeon credentials: Surgeon verification is a separate process — see our Doctor Verification Policy
  • Pricing accuracy over time: Cost estimates are based on hospital-supplied data at the time of quoting — prices may change

Limitations

Our verification is a starting point for your own research — it is not a guarantee of quality, safety, or outcomes. We strongly recommend that patients independently verify hospital accreditation and surgeon credentials, read reviews from multiple sources, and have video consultations before committing to any provider.
