This policy describes how SurgeryPlanet may use artificial intelligence tools in the content creation process and the safeguards we apply.

Our Approach to AI

SurgeryPlanet may use AI tools to assist with: initial content drafting and research summarization, content structuring and organization, grammar and readability improvements, and meta-content such as summaries and descriptions.

Human Review Is Always Required

AI-assisted content never goes live without human review. All AI-assisted content undergoes: human editorial review for accuracy, clarity, and compliance with our Editorial Policy, and human medical review if the content contains clinical, procedural, or treatment information. No content is published solely based on AI output.

What AI Is NOT Used For

AI is not used for: making medical decisions or providing medical advice (we do not provide medical advice), generating patient-specific recommendations, creating fake patient testimonials or reviews, or producing content that is presented as written by humans when it was not.

Transparency

We are transparent about our use of AI. Any significant AI role in content creation is disclosed. Content that has undergone human medical review is labeled accordingly. We welcome questions about our use of AI at editorial@surgeryplanet.com.

Accountability

Regardless of whether AI tools are used in drafting, SurgeryPlanet takes full editorial responsibility for all content published on our website. Our Corrections Policy applies equally to all content. If you identify an error, we will correct it — regardless of how the content was initially created.
